Mary Wanless

Mary Wanless is an internationally renowned coach, and is the author of the ‘Ride With Your Mind’ books which have been translated into many languages. Her most recent book titled “The New Anatomy of Rider Connection” is sensational.  This book is also titled “Rider Biomechanics” in its release in the UK.

In addition to her books, Mary has also authored 8 DVDs. She coaches riders at all levels, from relative novices to two of the top twelve US dressage riders, and some of the Canadian eventing squad. Mary has a B.Sc. degrees in both Physics and Applied Sports Coaching, and holds the BHSI certificate.

Clinic format

This clinic has a format that is unique.  These clinics are run in one hour increments with two riders in each hour.  Mary spends time with each rider individually focusing on their specific needs.  Next, she asks the rider to practice for 5 to 10 minutes on their own while she focuses on the second rider.  Riders switch several times, building their skills further each time they visit Mary after their practice time.  Over the course of three days, the improvements are dramatic!

Using this semi-private format is incredibly interesting for auditors as well.  There are three one hour mounted sessions.  Following the morning sessions is an in depth one hour lecture for all auditors and riders.  This is a great time to ask questions!  A one hour lunch break follows the lecture.  Three more mounted sessions round out the day.

Mary and Heather

Mary has coached US dressage star Heather Blitz for over 17 years. They now have a reciprocal coaching relationship, and Heather has brought to the RWYM approach her own unique ways of solving training issues by ‘getting through to’ horses of all types and dispositions. She is a genius at it, and Mary considers her our best living example of correct rider biomechanics!

We hope you are able to join us for this amazing and informative clinic!  Whether you attend as a rider or an auditor, you will be amazed by the results!  Updates on the clinic schedule and ride times will be posted on The Platinum Dressage Team facebook page in the week leading up to the clinic.
